Information, or the
lack of it, is seen as the
biggest barrier to public transport use in the UK. Where is the train
station? When do buses go? Is it late or cancelled? The government has
been working on Transport Direct, the official travel planning site,
overcoming some major barriers in terms of integrating timetable and
geographical search technologies.
- National Rail offers
real time departure boards and information on service disruptions
- PTI is the original national
public transport website, and connects you to local operators
- traveline operates both a website,
and a call centre on 0870 608 2608, providing travel information by
bus, train and tram
